We're seeking a visionary, technically adept, and experienced Director of Product Writing to lead our product content strategy, technical documentation, and UX writing efforts, revolutionizing our product content ecosystem using AI.This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of content strategy and technological innovation. We are looking for a leader passionate about leveraging cutting-edge AI and automation to revolutionize how we create, manage, and deliver product-centric content. You will not only guide our content vision but also serve as a key driver and role model for integrating AI into our writing workflows, significantly boosting efficiency and productivity.You will be responsible for shaping the entire user content experience across our platform, from in-product microcopy to comprehensive help center articles and developer documentation. You will build, mentor, and empower a team of talented writers, establishing best practices, setting content strategy, and ensuring that all user-facing content is clear, concise, accurate, and deeply integrated into the product experience.What You'll Do

Define and Drive Content Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy for all product-related written content, encompassing in-product text, help center articles, API documentation, and any other user-facing product content. This includes identifying opportunities to integrate AI-powered tools and methodologies to optimize content creation, quality assurance, and distribution.
Drive Automation & Productivity with AI - Lead the strategic identification, piloting, and scalable implementation of AI-powered solutions to significantly enhance the efficiency and productivity of content creation, management, and delivery.
Lead and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of UX Writers and Technical Writers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide strategic direction, feedback, and career development opportunities.
Establish Best Practices and Governance: Implement scalable processes, style guides, and content governance models to ensure consistency, clarity, accuracy, and tone of voice across all product content, aligned with Gong's brand and voice. You will champion the adoption of AI-powered grammar, style, and consistency checkers.Spearhead the implementation of AI tools to enhance grammar, style, and consistency.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Product Design, Customer Success, Support and other stakeholders.
Technical Content Excellence: Oversee the creation and maintenance of highly accurate, comprehensive, and easy-to-understand technical documentation for complex SaaS features. You will explore and implement AI-assisted drafting and summarization techniques to streamline documentation workflows.
Measurement and Optimization: Define metrics for content effectiveness and use data to iterate and improve content strategies and outputs.
Innovation and Tooling: Actively research, evaluate, and recommend cutting-edge content management systems, authoring tools, and AI-powered solutions to optimize content creation, localization, and delivery workflows, ensuring Gong remains at the forefront of content operations.
Advocate for Content: Represent Product Writing as a strategic function within Gong, educating cross-functional teams on the value and impact of exceptional product content.

You May Be a Good Fit If You Are

Experienced leader: 7+ years in product/UX/content writing (preferably in B2B SaaS), with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
Strategic thinker: Comfortable defining content vision and metrics, and aligning with product roadmap and business objectives.
AI-savvy: Demonstrated experience with or a strong interest in leveraging AI tools (e.g., LLMs, specialized writing AI, intelligent search) to enhance content creation, consistency, and workflow efficiency.
Data-fluent: You use analytics to drive decisions - optimizing content based on user behaviors and business metrics.
Product Development & Workflow Expertise - Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and how content integrates into product design and engineering workflows.
Excellent communicator: Storyteller and influencer who can rally cross-functional partners around content priorities.
